Postdoctoral fellows win prestigious fellowships

Dr. Dustin Little and Dr. HT Law, post-doctoral fellows in the Coombes lab, are recent winners of the prestigious fellowship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. The research award provides support for the fellow for 2 to 3 years to undertake their research and to present their work at national and international conferences. Dr. Law’s fellowship is co-sponsored by the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology under a priority announcement program to help tackle the challenge of inflammatory bowel disease.

MD/PhD student, Alex Oberc, wins national prize

Alex Oberc, an MD/PhD student in the Coombes lab, was recently awarded the Canada Graduate Scholarship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. This award recognizes excellence in graduate student research. Alex is working to understand the role of microbes and other risk factors in Crohn’s disease, a devastating disease with currently no cure.

Ontario Graduate Scholarship for Brian T.

Brian Tuinema, a senior PhD student in the Coombes lab, is the latest recipient of the Ontario Graduate Scholarship. Sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the OGS recognizes excellence among graduate trainees, providing them with salary support to carry out their research. Fist pumps all around!
