FAAM Jam

I am incredibly honored and grateful to be elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology. This recognition is founded, in large part, on the outstanding research performed by the 100+ members of my lab, past and present, who have dedicated themselves to the advancement of science and knowledge over the past 17 years. These individuals have also helped establish the lab as a safe space to do the best science we can do, as a place where creativity and innovation are encouraged, and where collaboration is held at a premium. I have received tremendous personal and professional support from #McMaster University over the past 17 years and particularly from the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences #BBS that I've had the privilege of leading as Chair for the past 6 years. I've leaned on many mentors along the way - you know who you are - and am grateful for their friendship and council.
