News from the Benches: New article out from the Coombes lab
Crohn’s disease is an immune-mediated intestinal disease and Canada has one of the highest rates of CD in the world. Publishing in the open-access journal Frontiers in Immunology, MD/PhD student Alex Oberc discusses how CD risk factors such as xenobiotic use and acute infectious gastroenteritis may impact upon the bacteria in the gut, potentially leading to shifts in the microbial composition and increasing mucosal inflammation.
