The Role of the Infinitely Small is Infinitely Great

Recently, Dr. Ana Tomljenovic-Berube defended her thesis and on departure presented me with this book by Louis Pasteur, one of my heroes in microbiology for his astounding contributions to science. It’s an 1879 first edition copy of the original English translation of Louis Pasteur’s epic book, “Etudes sur la Biere”, the diseases of beer, their causes and means of preventing them. In it, Pasteur describes experiments, techniques and applications that would eventually revolutionize the modern brewing industry. A very thoughtful gift that will take up a cherished position on my shelf.
