Coombes Lab on the West Coast, Part 1

June ushered in conference travel for some members of the Coombes lab. The lab was well represented by Suzanne Osborne and Joe McPhee at the ASM 2012 General Meeting in San Francisco. Postdoc Joe McPhee gave an oral presentation in a special symposium entitled “Connecting Bacterial Metabolism with Host Interactions” on this latest work on AIEC. PhD student Suzanne Osborne presented her latest research on DalS, a new ABC transporter in Salmonella that we discovered this year.

Their research was supported by grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine and the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships.
